THE DEATH OF HB 54

One of the biggest pieces of Legislation concerning the motorcycling

community this past session was the resurrection of HB 54.
As you may recall this bill was an attempt from a "rookie"

Legislator to force all Delawareans to wear a helmet.

 

You, your fellow ABATE members, along with members of MRO’s

from coast to coast, and concerned citizens, began an email

and letter writing campaign to voice opposition to this bill.

 

When it was heard in the Public Safety and Homeland Security Committee,

ABATE of Delaware members from all over the state attended to testify.

 

Although we were outnumbered we weren't out matched.

 

There were eight members from ABATE of Delaware present with ABATE

of Delaware's webmaster, Chainsaw, pushing all the correct information

out on our web site, Social Media, and various other multimedia sources.

Four of those members were also members of B.O.L.T., Gary "Hildy"

Hilderbrand, Jesse "Gator" Wilson, myself, and Jimmy Ray "Chainsaw" Epps.

 

When brought to a vote to release the bill from committee, it didn't receive a single vote!
