CALL TO ACTION JUNE 2019
Senate Bill 160 The Yard Waste Bill
We’ve all seen it, some idiot cutting grass and mindlessly
blowing the clippings or worse, into the roadway.
What at first glance appears to be harmless rubbish, yard debris
like grass clippings can pose a serious risk to motorcyclists.
Fortunately, Senator Dave Lawson has sponsored a bill that will make it unlawful.
The debris can cause an extremely slick surface.
When you’re out riding and you hit it - it’s like ice -
you can lose traction and control of the bike.
Anything that comes between your tires and the roadway
causes loss of traction and control, can lead to a very bad day.
Not to mention that the waste can clog street drains and cause street flooding.
It is also a significant source of storm water pollution.
It’s bad enough that in the Spring and Fall we have to deal with debris that
tractors and combines dump on the roadways, not to mention the
irrigation systems spraying water across the road.
At least this is a step in the right direction.
I am encouraging everyone to click on the following hyperlinks
